Sue Bond is a singer’s singer with her very own style. Her natural voice is the result of many years singing in Jazz, Funk, Soul & Blues bands all over Australia.
Sue has developed into one of Australia best jazz singers. Her phrasing on ‘No More Blues’ and ‘Invitation’ and her handling of the difficult lyrics on Joni Mitchell’s ‘Dry Cleaner From Des Moines’ are superb. Sue’s understanding of the great female jazz vocalists is evident in her sensitive handling of the ballad ‘God Bless the Child’. Her blues influences come to the fore in her treatment of ‘Black Coffee’. Through all the songs on the recording the purity of Sue’s voice is a joy to the listener.
Regarding the musicians - Sue Bond"Vince is one of the top jazz piano players in Australia and the US he is an inspiration to us all. Bruce is an icon in Australian jazz and has played with the best in England and the US. Geoff’s wealth of experience with the top names in Australia, England & many years in the United States brought to the recording the swinging live jazz feel we needed in the studio. A special thanks to Steve Newcomb whose piano playing was perfect on ‘God Bless the Child’, ‘I thought about you’ and ‘That’s All’. He is one of the up and coming names to watch in Australia".
