Sue Bond is a singer’s singer with her very own style. Her natural voice is the result of many years singing in Jazz, Funk, Soul & Blues bands all over Australia.
Sue has developed into one of Australia best jazz singers. Her phrasing on ‘No More Blues’ and ‘Invitation’ and her handling of the difficult lyrics on Joni Mitchell’s ‘Dry Cleaner From Des Moines’ are superb. Sue’s understanding of the great female jazz vocalists is evident in her sensitive handling of the ballad ‘God Bless the Child’. Her blues influences come to the fore in her treatment of ‘Black Coffee’. Through all the songs on the recording the purity of Sue’s voice is a joy to the listener.
“Vince Genova is one of the top jazz piano players in Australia and the US he is an inspiration to us all. Bruce Cale is an icon in Australian jazz and has played with the best in England and the US. Geoff Proud’s wealth of experience with the top names in Australia, England & many years in the United States brought to the recording the swinging live jazz feel we needed in the studio. A special thanks to Steve Newcombwhose piano playing was perfect on ‘God Bless the Child’, ‘I thought about you’ and ‘That’s All’. He is one of the up and coming names to watch in Australia”.

I Thought About You
“On this recording Sue Bond brings to life the real beauty in the American song book. Her feeling for the tradition and deep understanding of the lyrics express a life lived in the material itself. It’s so real.
I also love the way the band is lead so effortlessly by Sue’s vocal. The shared energy within the group just draws you in. Makes you feel like you are right there with them. Pure magic!”
John Morrison.
Australia’s most celebrated big band drummer.
I was so happy to record with this great trio and two added guests.
Thanks for the great playing of John Reeves on piano, Andrew Shaw on double bass andGeoff Proud on drums for making this a swinging project. I want to mention that this Cd celebrates Geoff’s 75th birthday and 57 years in the music business. Thanks so much guys for all your wonderful playing, dedication and input in the studio.
Also to the contributions of Ian Edwards and Paul Williams.
Ian’s beautiful flute solo on Everything Must Change and tenor solos on Dearly Beloved and Cole Porter’s I Concentrate On You.
Paul Williams demonstrates what smooth is on his great tenor solos on Will You Still Be Mine and I Should Care.
